Membership to the ASSA

Members of the Society include both professional and amateur astronomers as well as beginners in the hobby of astronomy.

The membership includes:

the annual Sky Guide, containing lots of useful information, including a day by day list of interesting astronomical phenomena

bi-monthly copies of MNASSA (the 'monthly' Notes of the Society) which has news, book reviews, and articles for all skill levels from novice to professional astronomer (price to non-members R80 p.a.)

the opportunity to join observing sections and participate actively in scientific observations

the opportunity to attend the Society's biannual symposium and to hear talks by leading amateurs and professionals

eligibility for various awards made by the Society.

Subscriptions

Entrance fees are R25.

Basic annual membership fees are R100.

The subscription year runs from July 01 to June 30. Persons joining during the period January to June need to pay only half (R50) the annual subscription, plus the entrance fee of R25.
