The society, situated in Windhoek, is active in the fields of astrophotography, solar and occultation observing. It has an observing site housing a 36-cm telescope at the Brakwater Agricultural Centre outside Windhoek. Exhibitions and public viewing sessions are organized.

Rhodes University Astronomy Society

Astrosoc is an Astronomy society associated with Rhodes University in Grahamstown but is open to all members of the public. The society meets every week during terms, where each week there is an interesting talk given by a member of the society or by a guest speaker which is followed (weather permitting) by viewing of the night sky and, of course, hot chocolate. Astrosoc owns four telescopes, including one 129-year-old ten inch Newtonian reflector, recently motorised, permanently mounted in the Simon Walsh Observatory. Public viewings and outreach events are frequently held throughout the year.

Soutpansberg Astronomy Club

Formed in 2002, this group is possibly the most northerly astronomy club in South Africa. "There are some brilliant dark sites in the area that we have access to," writes Kos Coronaios, chairman of the club.
