Summary:
He was a Dutch Astronomer who fleetingly (2 years) came to South  Africa and worked as a fellowship at Radcliffe Observatory in Pretoria. World War 2 left him stranded in South Africa and he ended up with a teaching post in Durban. He returned to Europe after the war.
