Astronomical surveys
 

These pages describe the various laborious surveys engaged in by astronomers in Southern Africa.

For each survey or research programme, the following information is collected:

  • Name: name/acronym
  • Observatories involved: Where did the project take place and who was involved. Only the southern African observatories are listed. The international collaborators are mentioned in the text.
  • Instruments: which instruments were dedicated to this work
  • Duration: The time span that it took to do the project.
  • Publication: When were the results published, as well as publications that were made due to this project.
  • Description: A summary of the survey.
  • History: All the relevant information.
  • Bibliography: Where evidence of the above stated facts can be found.
