In brief

Important  Contributions:

Description:

  • John Franklin-Adams, a wealthy English amateur, gave this telescope as a gift to the Republic Observatory (then known as Government Meteorological Observatory).  It was known as the twin telescope because it had two telescopes  (6 inch and 7 inch) on the same mounting.
  • During 1962 -1964 a new office block with a library was  erected with two domes on its roof. The Reunert and Franklin Adam twin telescopes were moved here. [Hers]
