Description:
This telescope was acquired in 1882 by the Government for the Natal Observatory. The reason was to observe the transit of Venus of 1882. However the telescope arrived too late to observe the event. In 1911 the Observatory closed down and the telescope now resides at the Local History Museum in Durban.
