Availability: Downloadable as a PDF (579K large) or ZIPped MS-Word (210K) file.
Scope: Volumes 1–15 (Condensed) of MNASSA, volumes 16–62 of MNASSA, all volumes of JASSA, and the Proceedings of the 2nd ASSA Symposium were indexed. Contributions were categorised according to an expanded version of the MNRAS categories.
Contents: Table 1 shows the indexing scheme that was used. Individual comets, minor planets, stars, observatories, telescopes and people received their own codes (e.g. minor planets in general have a keycode of 285, but 1362 Griqua has its own keycode of 346). The general category of 'history', for example, is represented by a number of keycodes, e.g. 548 (= ASSA: history: Cape Centre), 009 (=astrophotography, early/history), 006b = (history of astronomy in South Africa: Cape), etc.
Publications like MNRAS use an established categorization scheme; Table 2 below shows how these keywords relate to the expanded keycodes in Table 1 developed for this indexing effort.
Table 3 is the actual index, containing 2685 entries. The contents of the table is as follows:
Column 1 BibCode; the standard referencing scheme adopted by the ADS and other data centres*. The 5th to 9th digits refer to the name of the publication, as follows:
MNSSA = MNASSA, volumes 16-62
1980MNASSAC = MNASSA, volumes 1-15 (Condensed)
JASSA = Journal of the ASSA
ASSAsymp2 = 2nd Symposium of the ASSA
Column 2 Author(s); surname and initials
Column 3 Title of contribution
Column 4 Keycodes
* Note: "x" in the 14th character of the BibCode signifies those items from the 1967 December issue that had incorrectly numbered (duplicated) pages. |
