Technical: The camera has 6.1 megapixels and a 38-380mm zoom lens. The focal length was at 380mm. Exposure was set to manual with a shutterspeed of 8 seconds. The ISO speed was 100 and aperture was f7.1.

Description: A bat flies over the moon in this photo of the lunar eclipse taken by Oleg, on 3 March 2006 at 23h56 SAST. "It's very often that bats get in line between my telescope and the Moon on the full Moon night - very interesting. Sometimes they stay visible for up to about 0.5 sec. This time wasn't an exception." The bat can be seen at the bottom edge of the Moon.
Technical: Telescope used was TAL-100 achromatic refractor f/10 with 25mm eyepiece with the optical zoom on the camera approx x2.
The original image is ''underexposed'' to have the bat's image sharper

Description: Was hoping to get a full sequence but alas the clouds came in. I was just about to give up when the moon appeared. I shot in manual mode with aperture wide open and flipped through shutter speeds to try and get the moon as still as possible. After this first try, I have come to the conclusion that the ultimate is a digicam with a good telescope that can track the moon for a long exposure that is sharp.
Technical: Camera: Canon 30D mounted on a tripod with remote release and mirror lockup. Lens: rented 600mm with 1.4X teleconverter. 35mm equivalent focal length (with camera's 1.6x crop factor) is 1344mm. Apeture: f5.6 Shuttler speed: 1 sec. ISO: 1600. Image has not been cropped.

Description: "Day, Twilight and Night".
Cloud rolled in so, we pushed the ISO in an effort to capture through the veil but still keep the shutter speed low.
This blew out the crescent horribly, but Sarah felt the light side to be boring anyway, and was far more interested in exposing the dark side. She argues that "...the dark side IS the eclipse; the light side is just the moon like on any other night".
The result, whilst grainy, has some stunning colour and has proved invaluable to Sarah's understanding of day time, twilight and night - it's there to see for real.

Description:
Lunar Eclipse, 4 March 2007. Composite of eight photos done in Photoshop. Each photo was taken with a 10 minute interval starting at 02:12. These photos were taken of the moon coming out of totality and exiting the earths umbra. Pretoria had a severe rain storm and cloud cover during the moon's entry into the umbra (first half of the eclipse). In other words this photo represents the different stages of the second half of the eclipse.
Technical: Canon 20D camera, Sigma 28-300mm lens on 300mm, ISO100, Shutter speed between 1/60 and 1/1000, F5.6 used for all, Tripod, Remote trigger, Patience.
