Private Observatories in Southern Africa

Cederberg Observatory is situated 250 km by road north of Cape Town and is operated by seven amateur astronomers. It has excellent dark skies. Leeuwenboschfontein Observatory is located 180 km from Cape Town on a secluded spot near the Koo Valley, within the Leeuwenboschfontein Guest Farm. It is owned and operated by five amateur astronomers.
