The Instrumentation Section exists to assist ASSA members in resolving their need for astronomical instrumentation. We are happy to discuss your needs and advise as best we can. The two main areas of activity revolve around Amateur Telescope Making (yes, it is perfectly possible for you to build your own equipment from scratch) and advertising available second-hand equipment (better to “keep it in the family”). Whilst telescopes are the obvious topic for advice, we can cover binoculars, spectroscopes, photometers and other arcane instruments.
