Famous for: . Summary: Menzies joined the Cape Observatory right after school in 1923, as an “unestablished computer”. He worked mainly with the transit department using the meridian circle. He also ran the time service, which among other things fired the naval signal gun on Signal Hill at noon each day. Under an agreement, Menzies also did observing with the 74-inch telescope, then at Radcliffe Observatory. |
